My oh my! What a fun evening we had on Saturday, May 11! After many weeks of planning and putting creative thoughts together, we held our Ladies Murder Mystery Dinner complete with the effects of the 1920’s – a heat wave of 88* and no AC! With the phenomenal costumes that the women dressed up in, along with the fabulous change of creating the clubhouse into a Speak-easy, all the glitz and bling made the era come alive! (Not to mention a fun show of the Aurora Borealis the night before!)
With the help of the RCYC Activities Committee led by Laura Richard (also known as the club floral designer and decorator), along with the incredibly thoughtful decorating of Fran O’Bryant and Linda Shaw, the superb Duck/Chicken/Veg meal cooked by Barnaby Tuttle and Chris Richard, the bar tended by Gary Whitney and Pat O’Bryant, and the wait staff led by the work party lead Greg Douglass, our dinner event was a very fun and wonderful evening! Pam Corey as our raffle wrangler, along with her sister Barb, displayed the incredible gifts donated for the raffle in such a beautiful display. A special thank you to those who donated and provided the array of lovely items.
I cannot even begin to name every single person who was involved in one way or another, but if you happen to see one of the ladies or men involved, give a big hug to them and thank them for making the evening so wonderful and memorable.
The actors were from “The Murder Mystery Company” and had tall tales to tell. They carried the interactive story line all the way from Happy Hour through dinner and dessert. And who would have thought we had such acting talent amongst our crew of ladies? They were selected by the main actors after brief conversations and nailed their personalities to the characters they portrayed – spot on! My face hurt so much from smiling and laughing, and just enjoying others enjoy themselves over the antics of the showmanship. Shout out to Cathy Nelson for the best drama actress in a murder mystery scenario .
Lots of pictures were taken and we are trying to group them all together so you can have a chance to see the party in action. In the meantime, here’s just a sampling: Ladies Dinner 2024
Any profits from the dinner will be split between the Earle A Chiles Cancer Research Institute and a gift to the club (TBD).
Thank you to all who came and played the game! What a very memorable night it was!
        Cheers!
