I would add that Kalama, Wa. now has nice public docks that are affordable. There are restaurants within walking but the store across the highway is a bit of a hike.

*St. Helens public dock has power, pumpout station, fresh water, bathrooms and warm showers (bring a credit card). The nearby gas dock is handy.
*Rainier is great for getting ice, and a lot of members enjoy stopping off for a meaL at El Tapatio. The public dock is a 72 hour free stop but can be rough as there is no break water. The dock has a free pumpout and fresh water.
*Westport is tricky to get into. Talk to someone who has done it. Better, follow someone in that knows how to get in. Once in you’ll find 75′ of brand new cement dock. I’ve only been there once and my recollection is that there is not water or pumpout. A short walk in and you can enjoy breakfast at the Berry Patch.
*Cathlamet is a very charming town that you can walk anywhere you need to go – restaraunts, a stores, boutiques, museum. It is a classic small town where you settle in and feel right at home. The marina there has power, fresh water, pumpout, gas dock, laundry facilities, ice and showers.
*Astoria has all of the tourist ammenities you could expect. The marina has a power, fresh water, pumpout, gas dock, shower and ice.
