The CRYA digital newsletter is out today. There is a discussion of the “rock the cove” event (July 21 – 23) and there is mention of a fee to enter or be there, or something. (Bah Humbug)

As for sailing in the open ocean, it’s always weather (sea state) dependent and you have to know the tides. Basics: do not cross the bar during the ebb. A good overnight destination would be Grays Harbor, less than 50 miles away. You may have to motor there, but odds are you can sail back —– which reminds us of why we own a sailboat in the first place. 🙂
You could cruise south to Yaquina Bay, but it’s an overnight trip each way. We are lazy and might go to Westport @ Grays, or maybe just stop at Ilwaco for a day or three. It’s vacation and we are in no hurry, and have nothin’ to prove.
