When responding to a Forum post it is best to go to the post in the Forum and hit reply. This way everybody can benefit from the response. Hitting reply to the email send the response as an email only to the person who made the post. This will not be seen by anybody besides the person who created the post.
By following this suggestion, you allow all members the opportunity to benefit from the info you provided and creates a searchable history for any future questions of similar nature.
